Brian's son, Bill, wrote in recently to share the sad news that his father passed away this month. Bill writes... "Just to let you know the sad news my Dad Brian Pickard sadly passed away on 13 July aged 96 having not been himself for a few weeks . If I recall he left Eltham College in 1944 . A Fellow Of The Royal College Of Surgeons he spend a life helping the sick as an ENT Surgeon . He continued in private practice for many years after retiring from the NHS . He had a passion for aviation having learnt to Fly on Tiger Moths at the end of the war during his National Service . Like every great father he owned his own plane for many years ( an aerobatic De Havilland Chipmunk ) . He was also a Past Master Of The Guild Of Air Pilots And Navigators . He was awarded the Legion D"Honneur from France in 2008 . Sadly missed by his 5 children , 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren."
