George Band reaches new heights Alan Ward has sent us these pictures of George Band winning the High Jump on Sports Day 1946, with a new record height of 5 feet 6 inches. This beat the previous record of 5' 3¾" set by AC Elder on Sports Day 1932. In the late 1920s Mervyn Peake held the school record with 5' 1½". We believe that the current school record is 1.81 metres, or 5' 11¼", set by Duncan Linscott, son of John, in the mid-1970s.
